Club Info

Our official name is The Friendship Force of Edmonton and Area Club, which was founded in January 1998. We have approximately 50 members and 15 alumni members living throughout the metropolitan area.
Our Club provides the structure and leadership to conduct journeys between clubs, and coordinates these journeys through Friendship Force International. The Friendship Force of Edmonton and Area Club also provides year-round opportunities to develop friendship among its members through participation in cultural and social events at the local level

Area Info

Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, is a prairie city of approximately 933,000 people surrounded by a number of smaller cities and towns within less than a thirty minute driving distance (metro population 1,159 869).  The Edmonton Area has a perfect blend of metropolitan amenities and entrepreneurial spirit, with cultural diversity and a tight-knit community feel. Edmonton has the largest expanse of urban parkland in North America – 22 times larger than New York’s Central Park. The city boasts more green space per capita than any other North American city. The city is known as “Canada’s Festival City” because of the 30 plus festivals held here each year.

Typical Journey

We can accommodate 20 ambassadors and prefer to host two journeys between the end of May and early September because of our wonderful summer weather, and the “subarctic” extra-long, summer days.

Individual ambassador’s personal interests are taken into account, and their stays often include visits to the world famous – West Edmonton Mall, for a tour and/or shopping. They may also include a trip to the largest open-air Farmer’s Market in Western Canada in St. Albert, or to one of several Botanic Gardens in the area.
