Club Info
The Medicine Hat Club was started in 2003. The Club usually hosts 2 one-week inbound exchanges and a 2-week outbound exchange each year. Our members have had positive experiences, feedback from the inbound clubs has been great, and many friendships have been made.
Area Info
The City of Medicine Hat is located in southeastern Alberta, with a population of 63,230 (2016 city census); climate is semi-arid with 230 millimeters of rain and 2500 hours of sunshine per year; located at the crossroads of the South Saskatchewan River Valley and the Trans-Canada Highway. The City dates back to 1883 when natural gas was discovered, which lead to a booming economy and our fascinating industrial heritage at the ‘Clay Products National Historic District’. The City is also home to the World’s Tallest Teepee. The City has the only municipally owned gas and electrical utilities. The Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, which rises 1,466 metres above sea level (highest point of land between the Canadian Rockies and Labrador), is located 45 minutes southeast of the City. The designated UNESCO site, Dinosaur Provincial Park is located 1.5 hours northwest of the City. Additional information can be accessed at: www.medicinehat.ca and www.tourismmedicinehat.com.
Typical Journey
The Club starts the exchange with a welcome supper. Depending on the time of year, the club coordinates various tours with the City and surrounding area, as well as hosting mix and match suppers. The exchange ends with a farewell supper.
